A few years ago I had such pain in my neck that I couldn’t turn my head to the left. This made driving and sleeping very difficult. I thought I must have slept wrong and that it would go away. After about a month of this I knew I needed a chiropractor, as this was related to my spine and that is what a chiropractor deals with, the spine.

So I opened the yellow pages and found one. I called Pettinato Chiropractic and they were able to see me the very next morning which was a Saturday. When I arrived I wasn’t sure what to expect but the entire staff made me feel very comfortable. I smiled at this and it was the first time I smiled since my pain started. Dr. Joe took x-rays and adjusted me. He also set me up with physical therapy which they have there in the office. I did this 3 times a week for about a month. When I left after the first visit I was able to turn my head a little bit to the left. I graduated from physical therapy and then only went back every 2 weeks for an adjustment.

Eventually I stopped going (BIG MISTAKE) because I felt so good. Then one day I got up from the couch and something in my shoulder blade popped. It was so loud my family could hear it. I fell to the floor in pain. I couldn’t move without crying out. It hurt so bad. I went to the emergency room where they took x-rays. That was so painful I cried. I have never felt such pain. It hurt to move my arm and walking was difficult I had to walk softly and take baby steps. No one could touch me without it hurting. An orthopedic doctor came in and told me the wind on my vertebra popped out of position. He told me to rest in bed for a few days and then go to a chiropractor. He gave me pain medication which helped me sleep.

After a couple of days I went back to Dr. Joe. I explained what happened and he said he could help me. I couldn’t be adjusted for a week or two but instead they used ultrasound. Once the pain subsided enough I was able to be adjusted. It didn’t take long after that and I was feeling great again.

This time however, I didn’t stop seeing Dr. Joe. I would go once a month for maintenance.

About a year later pain started in my upper arm. I told Dr. Joe and he said it was my shoulder. I saw Dr. Joe twice a week for adjustments and ultrasounds. He gave me exercises to do at home (this is very important to do). It was difficult to raise my arm to pick up my 2yr old granddaughter and was hard to sleep. I was getting impatient so along with adjustments, Nikki, the nurse practitioner who works there, would give me injections in my joint. I received injections twice a week for 4 weeks. Between the adjustments and injections the pain in my arm is gone. I still do the exercises at home so this doesn’t come back.

There aren’t enough words to express my appreciation and gratitude for all that the staff has done for me. I know there are people who don’t believe in chiropractors but I have experienced this care over and over and can attest that chiropractic care will and does help. After all your spine is your central nervous system and pain means something is wrong. Who better to go to than a spine doctor which is a chiropractor.

I decided to seek chiropractic care versus other alternative choices because of my past experience, I know that adjustments help to relieve the pain. I had low back pain that would not allow me to walk or work, I could not just stand I had to keep moving and bending over just a little increased the pain. Some of the biggest benefits that I have received from chiropractic care is that I am now able to work and exercise as well as have increased strength and stamina which has allowed me to umpire games and officiate which is one thing I truly love to do. After seeking chiropractic care I now notice that my strength increased which has allowed me to work harder and play harder.
